Joseph K. Redmond, Jr. Collection

A veteran showman, Joseph K. Redmond, Jr. was a theatre manager for the Uptown and Tower theatres in Kansas City, Missouri, in the 1930s and early 1940s. He also provided management at the Esquire Theatre. During his distinguished career in the film and entertainment industry, he worked in studio promotions in Hollywood; oversaw the advertising promotion of over 120 movie houses for Fox-Midwest Theatres; set up a training film library in France, distributed motion picture equipment, and personally trained more than 200 G.I. projectionists as a member of the U.S. Signal Corps during World War II, and held television and newspaper jobs in Kansas City.

The collection is arranged into seven series: Kansas City theater images, Fox Theater Group figures and staff, celebrities visiting Kansas City, Kansas City personalities, Kansas City images, film stills and promotional images, and miscellaneous photographs.
